Upcoming Dates:
2023-24 School Year Calendar

Daily Schedule
There has been a slight change to the bell times at school this year. Please note the following bell times:

Student Timetables
When you arrive on Tuesday there will be lists posted around the building that list each student’s period 1 (block A) room number. Students should proceed to that room where full timetables will be distributed by the Period 1 teacher. Staff and student ambassadors will be available to assist students to locate their classrooms.
Lunch Period
Students should bring a lunch and a filled water bottle each day. There is no food service at school. There are food options down the street, however our lunch overlaps with St. Pat’s and the lineups are long - waiting for food will result in being late for class and missed learning opportunities. (note the lunch hour is slightly shorter this year as noted in the daily schedule above due to the longer afternoon break).
Guidance & Timetables Requests
The Ridgemont Guidance team is working to resolve student timetable conflicts. Every effort has been made to ensure students are placed in compulsory courses and complementary electives. Students must follow their assigned timetable. Please be advised that due to a number of restrictions within the timetable, changes may not be possible. The Guidance team will consider Course Review requests after Thursday, September 7th. Course change Request link
We will not be able to accommodate requests for teacher or class preferences, or to simply reorder the sequence of your courses.
We will be prioritizing new registrations and the following 4 scenarios:
-
You are in a Course You Have Already Completed
-
You need a Pathway Change (Applied to Academic)
-
Grade 12 ONLY - Drop a course for a spare
-
You are Missing Post Secondary Prerequisite or Graduation Requirement
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Bus Passes (Presto Cards)
Starting this school year, we can no longer register Presto cards for students on our end. This change is due to new rules implemented by Presto's website. Presto’s are assigned by OSTA based on student address. Students must live a minimum of 3.2 kilometers from the school to potentially be eligible.
Both parents and students are now responsible for registering the assigned Presto card. We understand this may be a new process for some families, but rest assured, it is a straightforward procedure that can be completed online through the official Presto website. Students will be provided with instructions to follow the registration process.
Registering the Presto card offers several advantages:
-
Protection against loss or theft: If the card is lost or stolen, the balance can be transferred to a new card.
-
Convenient balance reload: Parents can easily reload funds onto the card online
Student Vehicles/Parking:
For 2023-24, there is very little student parking at Ridgemont HS. If you drive a vehicle to school, the expectation is that the car is registered in the main office (license plate and make/model) and you will be assigned a parking pass. Students are to park at the back of the building against the school. There is absolutely no student parking in the front of the school - this is for visitors only. If there is speeding, a pass that is not visible in the front of the car, a car not registered, students using the cars as a place to hang out, or speeding in the parking lot which will lead to the removal of parking privileges. Safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. Our neighbours at Charles Hulse Public school remind students and families that their parking is for their staff/parents and Ridgemont students are not to be cutting through their lot. Thank you in advance for your support to encourage student use of OC Transpo or to walk if appropriate.
We can’t wait to see you all Tuesday!
Have a great week, Spartans.
