Calling all readers! Follow the school library on Instagram and Tik Tok to keep up to date on the best & new books we have for students:

Library Volunteers Wanted

Get volunteer hours by helping in the library in the mornings before school starts.

Tasks may include resetting furniture configurations, preparing materials for displays, shelving books, verifying that books are shelved in correct order, etc. One requirement for volunteering in the library is to have a good sense of alphabetical and numerical order (for example: 832.347 vs 832.6 ... which comes first? or AUS vs AUB ...).

GSA / Spirit Club

GSA = Gay-Straight Alliance or Genders & Sexualities Alliances

GSAs are student-run organizations that unite LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities. GSAs have evolved beyond their traditional role to serve as safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth in middle schools and high schools, and have emerged as vehicles for deep social change related to racial, gender, and educational justice.

A growing body of research confirms that the presence of a GSA has a positive and lasting effect on student health, wellness, and academic performance. It can also protect students from harassment based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and improve school climates for all students in the long-term.

Outdoors Club

This club is taking place this year to replace the Outdoor Education credit course that we usually have at Ridgemont every year. Join to spend time outdoors and learn some outdoor skills like hiking, canoeing, backpacking, sleeping in a tent, cooking over a campfire, etc.

Mindfulness Club

Thursday Morning - 8:30am-9am - Library Seminar A

Friday at Lunch - 11:40-12:10 - Library Seminar A

Do you struggle with attention, focus, anxiety or procrastination? Do you simply want to feel more present, deal better with the ups and downs of life, or be able to tear yourself away from your phone when you need to? Join us to learn about Mindfulness, how to practice meditation and how to foster more attention, non-judgement and calm in our lives. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one's attention to the present moment, without judgment. You can expect to connect with others, spend a short time practicing meditation, and discuss with others your experience. If you want more information or are interested, you can just show up or email [email protected]

Climate Action Club

Climate change affects everyone! Do you want to do your part to make our school more environmentally friendly while chilling with awesome peeps? Join the Ridgemont Climate Action Club! First meeting is September the 13th in room 121!  -Coach LeBel

Girls SySTEM Mentorship Program

Our program provides a space for encouragement, which many young girls with an interest in science go without. We want to inspire the next generation of STEM innovators, one representative of a breadth of life experiences. In a world that's becoming more and more technical, giving students the tools to understand and explore STEM is synonymous with giving them tools to change the world.
