Hey Spartans,

Here’s your news update for the week to come!

Schulich Business Excellence Academy

The Schulich Business Excellence Academy is a business education and mentorship program supporting 60 Black and Indigenous Ontario high school students. The sessions will be virtual and consist of a combination of guest speaker lectures, activities, and material overview. This initiative will launch in the Summer 2021 term and will run Monday to Thursday evenings for four weeks in July during after-work hours.

Groups of around five high school participants and one Schulich undergraduate student mentor will be introduced at the start of the program. The smaller group setting is a great way to connect with people while building useful interpersonal and business skills. By the end of it all, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at a closing ceremony attended by the Dean. Be sure to sign up soon as spaces are limited.

Mindfulness Workshops - Ottawa Public Library

The Ottawa Public Library has organized three free online Mindfulness workshops in May: for parents, for children and for teens.

The Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week at the beginning of May takes on a particular significance this year.  There is not one of us who is not themselves or does not know someone going through mental health challenges.  Ottawa Public Library is kicking off a series of free online Mindfulness workshops to help us all cope with the stress.  Recognizing and talking about your stress, your emotions, helps in managing them.  Don’t miss this opportunity to bring mindfulness into your lives and practice strategies and coping skills.

Registration is required:

Parents will not need a Library card to apply as registration is taken through Eventbrite.

However, children and teens will need a Library card.  Cards are free for Ottawa residents.  If you don’t have a card, you can register online for a temporary card to use for signing up for the programs
