The City of Ottawa has Recreation positions that are ideal because those positions do not require any postsecondary experience. Review of applications and selection for interviews will likely start happening in March and April.

If you apply to any of these positions, please email Souad.musa@ocdsb.ca, our graduation coach for Black students, to let her know so she can better support your application.

Job Opportunity - Nokia Future Tech program

This is a program in which we hire students currently completing grade 11 to work at Nokia over the summer with some of our engineering teams. The positions are paid and the students get valuable hands-on experience in the tech industry which we hope will help them when making post-secondary decisions.

Somali & Arabic COVID-19 Resource

The “Ottawa Immigrant COVID-19 Resource Line” is a new resource that aims to support the Somali and Arabic speaking communities in Ottawa by engaging them and listening to ‘how’ they are affected and offering the wrap around support services they need.

The OICRL aims to reduce barriers to accessing information by providing a direct link to Somali or Arabic speaking intake workers who are trained to respond to the immediate needs of the community and can share information on where to get tested for COVID-19, facilitate access to testing centres and support them if they test positive and need to find resources on where and how they can self-isolate.

The phone line will operate 7 days a week from 11am to 7pm.

·        Call 1-844-833-1234 and Press 1 for Arabic and Press 2 for Somali

·        Launch of the line: March 10, 2021
